Different Hindrances to IoT Adoption

Different Hindrances to IoT Adoption

There’s no doubt about it, IoT is moving, and it’s on full steam. It is also predicted that by the year 2020, there are actually 25 billion devices that will be connected to the Internet. However, still, when it comes to different IoT solutions, they have different and unique characteristics and different industries have used different IoT platforms as well.

From flying cars to talking fridge and too smart homes, there is no denying what IoT can bring in the future. However, that future where everyone will embrace the Internet of Things as a fundamental part of one’s life is still far as not everyone is adopting it yet. So what’s the reason why people are still not adopting the Internet of Things? Here are some of those, especially for starters that are not that familiar with the Internet of Things.

Privacy Concerns

When it comes to the Internet of Things, privacy, or security is one of the challenges that one may encounter. Multiple IoT devices and gadgets can probably get a large number of statistics and information, and this is why security or privacy may be a significant risk. Thus, when it is IoT that is being discussed, security is one of the main barriers of IoT adoption.

Price

Also, one of the reasons why many people are not yet embracing IoT is because it is a bit pricey. The Internet of Things is trending, and many companies have invested a lot in different IoT solutions. Many consumers are owning and buying stuff like wearable and different smart home appliances. If a business wants to conduct or implement IoT solutions, one crucial consideration that they need to tackle is the cost of it. The system itself operates on three levels, namely hardware, infrastructure, and applications. Just knowing all of these three, could mean IoT could be very expensive.

Not Enough Knowledge

There are a lot of technologies available, and many people are interested in this. However, one problem is that because there are a lot of them, it is a bit hard to acknowledge and implementing as such will take time and will be a bit of a challenge especially to those who are new to this technology. The competition in the IoT field is enormous, and the number of different companies that are beginning to promote different IoT related devices, services, and products is growing. Though many technologies are available, it will still take years to this process to be learned.

Ease of Use and Inadequate tools and Infrastructure

Several companies are integrating IoT, but there are still thousands that are not implementing it. One reason is because of inadequate infrastructure, some companies have built their tools, but since other companies are not that multi companies like others, they are having troubles building their own so they will end up not doing their infrastructure and they will not continue with their IoT solution.

With the things mentioned above, we learned that the Internet of Things systems face different issues when it comes to adopting it. There is already an enormous competition when it comes to the IoT field; however, there are still many companies that are beginning to promote their different products and services that are IoT related. These may be just some of the barriers, but if you come to think of it, there are still many advantages that the Internet of Things can bring.
